This 1915cc (94mm x 69mm stock stroke) Volkswagen Type 1 turnkey engine is a rebuild, running an 8.0:1-9.0:1 compression ratio on premium gasoline (firing order 1-4-3-2). It’s built on a new AutoLinea or AS41 case (dual oil pressure relief, full-flow passages, shuffle-pinned and align-bored as required) with a forged 69mm counterweighted crankshaft (dynamically balanced) and forged I-beam rods. 94mm forged or hypereutectic pistons run in 94mm thick-wall cylinders, paired with AutoLinea or performance dual-port heads (CNC three-angle valve job, 40×35.5mm valves) and an Engle W110/W120 or CB Performance camshaft for a strong mid-range powerband. Lubrication is via a high-volume Schadek oil pump with a stock or deep sump and, on many builds, an external oil filter. Cooling includes a doghouse fan shroud, wide cooling fan, and an offset oil cooler. Fuel delivery is typically dual Weber 40 IDF, EMPI HPMX 40, or Dellorto DRLA 40 carburetors with cross-bar linkage.
