This Type 4 refurbished long block (1700/1800/2000cc, VW Type 2 Bus) is priced for building from an engine you supply. It’s stripped down, inspected for faults and cracks, and chemically cleaned; the crankshaft is reground as required and dynamically balanced. It’s assembled with a new camshaft (mild performance cam kit optional), new main, big-end, and camshaft bearings, new camshaft followers, new barrels, new pistons with new rings and gudgeon pins, a new flywheel oil seal with a refaced flywheel, new spark plugs, and new cylinder heads (refurbished heads also available). Guaranteed for 12 months or 10,000 miles. If we aren’t rebuilding your own engine, a £500 refundable surcharge applies until we receive and inspect an exchange engine. A vapour-blasted case with drilled, tapped, cleaned, and plugged oil galleries is available as an extra option, and a turnkey engine option is also available.
